The OPISTHOBRANCH NEWSLETTER is published by Steven J. Long, 3651 Via
Lato, Lompoc , CA 9 34 36. Annual subscription: $12.50 for institutions;
$10.00 for individuals. Back volumes are available.

Dr. Baba writes that Mr. Takeo Abe died February 4, 1978 after illness.
Mr. Abe worked extensively on the opisthobranch fauna in Toyama Bay and
nearby areas. Dr. Baba is still working at home. Towards the beginning
of May he will visit the reef of Ishigaki-shima Island (Ryukyu) for col-
lecting.

The 1978 meeting of the Western Society of Malacologists will be held
at the University of Santa Clara, June 28, to July 1, 1978. For addit-
ional information contact: Dr. Peter D'Eliscu, President, Western Soc-
iety of Malacologists, Department of Biology, University of Santa Clara,
Santa Clara, California 95053.

I am planning to publish an alphabetical and numerical index to the
papers which have appeared in the ON in the near future. The first
section (author-number) will probably appear in the June issue.

The remainder of this number (after the CURRENT CITATIONS) will be used
to list some of the larger holdings available from my holdings. These
i^rill give a good indication of electrostatic copies and microfiche
which I can provide. Many other individual papers are available.

It looks as though we are finally catching up with our newsletter. My
Press will be running tonite (May 3, 1978) and I hope to mail tomorrowJ
Thanks again for all the patience you have shown.

Next week I will be in Boston and I hope to see several opisthobranch
people while there and attend Terry Gosliner's graduation. I will be
back about the 15th of May and go into the hospital for minor surgery
on the 17th. I should be home for about three weeks after that.

I am on the move again! I am changing jobs for the first time in over
eleven years. I will be working near Stanford University so I should
be able to get into a good library for the first time since I started
the ON. The family and I will not actually move until 8 July but I
will use this address for the ON and try to save one change. I will
be renting a house for the first few months and then buying. Please
send all mail to the address listed on the masthead. I am doing a
double issue of the ON before I toar down the printing press and plat*.^-
makor for the trip to Santa Clara. I hope to get tl\e works running
again in time for an early August issue. If I don't, I will get it
printed commercially again.

Thanks to Gary McDonald, Dr. Baba, Dr. Ros , Dr. Edmunds, and others
who have recently sent information for the ON.

Jim Lance sent a card from Acapulco, Mexico, where the cruise he is on
touched port in early June. Most of the opisthobranchs are being taken
by SCUBA or snorkel but collections have been made at- every anchorage.
Jim should be about home by the end of June.

Eveline Marcus wrote (25 May) that she was in Boston area. I left
there on 15 May. Alan Kuzirian, Terry Gosliner, and Eveline collected
near Nahant, Massachusetts and Eveline also visited M. Patricia Morse.
Eveline will be going to Canada soon and then on to Europe.

The Western Society of Malacologists ' meetings will be held 28 June to
1 July, 1978, at the University of Santa Clara, which is less than a
mile from where I will be living after 8 July. I hope to at least drop
in on the meetings although I will still be working here.

My trip to Boston was really nice. I spent my first day there with
Alan Kuzirian and Terry Gosliner. We went to the Museum of Comparative
Zoology at Harvard and Met Ken Boss, Ruth Turner, and Henry Russell.
I also talked with Roy Hughes while I was there. That afternoon we
went up to see M.P. Morse and had dinner after touring the Northeastern
University marine laboratoies. During the week I managed to get in
one boat trip around Boston Harbour and a look a'- -"eorgc ' f "f-lc. I
Friday, I went up to Durham, New Hampshire, and stayed with Annmarie
and Larry Harris for the weekend. Saturday, Alan and Terry took me
